Want to learn more about our concerts?
Annual Concert (September): This is where you will get to experience outstanding storytelling by a variety of ASE storytellers. Added to the show will be an entertaining performance by a Special Guest Artist. We also award our “Culture Keeper Award” to a person or group who has made a significant contribution to the empowerment and/or enrichment of African American people. This is ASE’s biggest fundraiser for the year. (Usually close to the date of the annual concert, the ASE Youth Group will also hold its annual concert).
Storytelling for a Cause (August): This storytelling concert is a fundraiser where ASE gives back to its supporters and the community in general. No fee, but we do ask for a love offering. Donations are split between our parent organization, The National Association of Black Storytellers (NABS), and one other organization or group that Christ the Mediator Lutheran Church chooses to award. A separate performance by the ASE Youth group is also held in conjunction with this concert.
Pre-Kwanzaa Concert (December): Through stories, songs and a Kwanzaa presentation, this family friendly event familiarizes attendees with the spirit, rituals and seven principles of Kwanzaa. ASE adult and youth tellers join together to shape this concert and presentation. There is no charge to attend.
Additional Performances: ASE tellers often perform for local, regional and national organizations and festivals. Check our Home Page and Calendar for more information. And please like us on Facebook so you can keep abreast of all of our upcoming activites.
